Head of the army’s search and rescue unit, Colonel Golan Vach, said he found the body of a mother protecting her baby while searching the rubble of Kibbutz Beeri in southern Israel , three days following the attacks carried out by hundreds of Hamas men from the neighboring Gaza Strip.

“When I pulled it out, I saw a decapitated baby. I took it in my hands and carried it, then I put it in the body bag. I did it personally,” assured the officer during a visit organized for the media to Kfar Aza, another kibbutz attacked by Hamas fighters, the movement in power in Gaza.

More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel since October 7, mainly civilians of all ages massacred by Hamas that day, according to the latest figures from the Israeli authorities. They also identified nearly 230 people kidnapped by Hamas and held as hostages in Gaza.

Hamas denied that members of its commandos killed infants during the attacks.

Israeli media first reported allegations of decapitated babies. These were initially supported by Israeli officials, before spokespersons said they were unable to confirm them.

US President Joe Biden also cited as fact that babies had been beheaded before his office clarified that he had not seen any images of such atrocities.

Rabbi Israel Weiss, one of those responsible for identifying the bodies of those massacred on October 7, declared on October 16 in Tel Aviv that he had “seen babies, women and children decapitated.”

No independently verified images, photos or videos of decapitated babies have emerged so far.

“People ask me how it’s possible that I didn’t take a photo. I said, ‘I’m sorry. I have children. I have limits. I don’t photograph a decapitated baby.'” Colonel Vach explained.

In retaliation for Hamas attacks, the Israeli army launched an intense bombing campaign on the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 7,300 people, the vast majority civilians, including more than 3,000 children, according to a latest report published Friday. by the Hamas Ministry of Health.
