A 10-year-old boy died on Sunday following an accident on a playground in Kemmel, a village in the municipality of Heuvelland, the West Flanders prosecutor’s office said early in the evening. The child received the crossbar of a goal on the neck,
The accident happened around 5 p.m. in a public playground. The boy, of French nationality, played there by hanging on a goal. He then fell and received the crossbar on the neck. Many children witnessed the tragedy.
Emergency services quickly arrived on scene and attempted to resuscitate the child, who was taken to hospital in critical condition. The child eventually died.
The first elements indicate that it is an accident.
