This Friday, August 18, a dangerously driving quad was checked by the local police. After refusing to comply and having run over one of the two policemen, the quad was the target of two shots from the second policeman. One of the two hit the driver of the quad in the head and he died instantly. The two police officers are in hospital, one injured by the quad, the other in a state of shock. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the death, but the thugs have already delivered their verdict: for them, the policeman showed hasty shooting.
Quickly following the tragedy, incidents opposed the police to the demonstrators in the town of Oupeye. New violence was observed overnight from Sunday to Monday in Oupeye.
“The atmosphere was quite tense with small mobile groups of thugs who were trying to do battle with the police and lure them into real ambushes,” the mayor of Oupeye Serge Fillot told RTBF on Monday morning. The mayor also clarified that there had been no arrests or injuries. Two police vehicles were however damaged, reports RTBF.
