In the district of the same name in southern Baltimore, residents celebrate their “Brooklyn Day” every year. The festival ended in tragedy on Sunday night. In a block of flats where 100 guests were celebrating, a previously unknown person opened fire on them.
According to initial information from the police, at least four visitors to the festival died and 25 others were injured, some seriously. The exact number is not yet clear because many were transported to hospitals on their own.
It is also still completely unclear whether there is a political background to the fatal shots. An eyewitness told a US news channel that at least 30 shots had been fired.
