Tragic Shooting Incident: Canadian Policeman Killed in the Line of Duty in Vancouver

Columbia: A Canadian policeman was shot dead while serving an arrest warrant. A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer in Vancouver was shot dead. Two other officers were also injured. In Coquitlam, east of Vancouver, witnesses said a young man got into an altercation with an officer who came with an arrest warrant. British Columbia’s Office of Independent Investigations said the shooting then took place.

The accused was also shot in the incident. The deceased officer has been identified as Constable Rick O’Brien, 51. He died on the spot. RCMP Deputy Commissioner Dwayne MacDonald said one injured officer was released following being treated at a hospital and the other remains in hospital with injuries. A homicide investigation team has started an investigation into the death of the officer and injuries to his colleagues. The Independent Investigation Office said it would look into the officers’ actions.
