Washington: A young woman who sought police help to escape from the attack of her ex-boyfriend was shot dead by a law enforcement officer. Niani Finlayson (27) was killed. The incident took place on December 4 in Los Angeles.
Niani informed the police that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her. A Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department official said when they arrived at the residence, they heard the sound of grabbing and screaming. The Sheriff’s Department says Niani was threatening her boyfriend with a knife, which is why the deputy opened fire. However, Niyani’s family lawyer said that Niyani was injured in the attack by her ex-boyfriend and they sought the help of the police to get him down. Niani lived with her nine-year-old daughter. The family says Niani was killed following being shot multiple times. Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Department has yet to release body camera footage of the deputy who arrived at the scene. Her daughter, who witnessed the shooting, also responded that the police claim that Niani had threatened was wrong.
