Six people were killed when a small private plane crashed in the western US state of California, according to US authorities. The Los Angeles Times reported that a Cessina 550 crashed into a field and caught fire instantly, according to a tweet posted by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Riverside County Fire Department.
Police moved to the crash site in the southwestern city of Murrieta in Riverside County, regarding 150 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles.
“Officers found the plane completely on fire in a field. Six passengers on board were found dead at the scene,” the department said in a press release.
