A 23-year-old man died Tuesday followingnoon following a work accident in Tienen. The information, reported by several media, was confirmed by the Louvain public prosecutor’s office.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. at the Liema concrete plant in Tienen. The victim was carrying out maintenance work on a concrete silo and a pump when he fell for an unknown reason into the silo. Other workers immediately alerted emergency services, but the victim died at the scene.

The Welfare at Work Monitoring Service and the Louvain Labor Auditorate have opened an investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident.
