Transformation of Saint-Modeste church postponed – Newsroom

The municipality of Saint-Modeste had to put its project to transform the church on hold.

The council made this decision given that the only bid received following the call for tenders greatly exceeds the costs of the site, initially estimated at around 500 thousand dollars.

As a result, the municipality will lose the $200,000 grant granted this summer by the federal government. Ottawa would have funded 50% of the work, but only if it was completed before December 31, 2017.

The elected officials intend to review the project to create a multifunctional room in the church. They hope he will eventually qualify for a grant from the provincial government.
