Trial Begins for Driver of Flying Car in Flémalle Sports Hall Accident: The Case of Sofian Kiyine

An expected trial begins this Thursday morning at the Liège police court, that of the driver of the flying car who had finished his race in the Flémalle sports hall.

The Public Prosecutor of the King of Liège had promised a quick and firm criminal response following this spectacular exit from the road by footballer Sofian kiyine.

The accident occurred on March 30 at the Flémalle sports hall. Sofian Kiyine, a player from Oud-Heverlee Leuven, alone in a car, crashed into the roundregarding at full speed before flying several meters and ending his race in the sports hall. Wounded, he had to be extricated and taken to hospital. Toxicological analyzes showed that the 25-year-old midfielder had 1.6 grams of alcohol in his blood.

Separately, OHL announced in early June that Kiyine will be reinstated in the team. The club’s managing director clarified that the player’s behavior following the accident convinced OHL to pursue him.
