On March 27 and April 3, Abdelkader tricked people aged 69 and 84 at the Belfius and BNP Paribas Fortis banks in Montigny-le-Tilleul. During the two thefts, the defendant used the same technique to achieve his ends by making his victims believe that a €5 or €10 note had fallen. A jostling later, the money that had just been withdrawn from the ATM found itself as if by magic in Abdelkader’s hands.
In total, the opportunistic thief stole a few hundred euros and was arrested a few days later while the police were watching him. As required by the prosecution at the hearing, Abdelkader is sentenced to 3 years in prison. The probation plead by the defence, to regulate the defendant’s drug addiction, was deemed inadequate by the Charleroi Criminal Court.
