Triodos certificates lose 40% of their value from the first day of trading

The value of Dutch bank Triodos’ certificates of deposit plunged by more than 40% on the first day of the resumption of trading, following more than 3 years of suspension, we might see on Wednesday. The owners of these titles have lost hundreds of millions of euros in total.

During the Covid crisis, the banking institution, under pressure from investors wishing to recover their money, had closed its certificate trading system.

Today, Triodos once more makes it possible to buy or sell certificates once a week via a trading platform. The price is set according to supply and demand. On Wednesday, a certificate was worth 50 euros, once morest 84 euros during the last exchanges.

Some 43,000 people, including several thousand Belgians, have invested money with Triodos for a total amount of around 1.2 billion euros.
