A truck driver was seriously injured when he left the road Thursday evening in Saint-Hyacinthe, in Montérégie.

According to the first information available, the driver of a heavy goods vehicle lost control of his vehicle around 8:30 p.m. in a curve on Frontenac Street (route 233), very close to the intersection of route 231.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, suffered significant injuries which required him to be transported to a Montreal hospital. The Sûreté du Québec might not specify in the evening whether his life was in danger.

Speed might have played a role in this accident, the provincial police suggested, a hypothesis which will however have to be substantiated during their investigation.
