Trump Threatens Iran Over Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump stated on Friday that the United States military has not yet begun the destruction of remaining infrastructure in Iran, specifically identifying bridges and electric power plants as the next targets for strike operations.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump asserted that the current leadership of the Iranian regime is aware of the actions required to avoid further escalation and emphasized that such steps must be taken quickly. These comments signal a shift toward targeting critical utility and transport networks within the country.

Trump further claimed that the United States could, given sufficient time, secure the Strait of Hormuz to seize control of oil exports. He described the potential for the U.S. To take the oil and generate a “fortune,” characterizing the move as a “gusher for the world.”

The Strait of Hormuz remains the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoint, with a significant portion of global petroleum supplies passing through the narrow waterway between Oman and Iran. Any military operation to “open” or control the strait would directly impact global energy markets and maritime security.

An Iranian spokesperson responded to the statements by warning that the Iranian armed forces would retaliate if the threats were acted upon. The spokesperson stated that Iran would target all assets belonging to the United States and the Israeli regime, specifically focusing on fuel and energy infrastructure, economic centers, and power plants.

The Iranian warning explicitly extended these potential targets to assets located both within the broader region and within the occupied territories. This response indicates a readiness to expand the theater of conflict beyond Iranian borders to include regional energy hubs and Israeli infrastructure.

The White House and the Department of Defense have not issued a formal response to the Iranian spokesperson’s warnings.
