CONWAY, S.C. – The Tulane Green Wave beach volleyball team is set to leave Louisiana for the first time this season, traveling to South Carolina to compete in the Chanticleer Challenge hosted by Coastal Carolina University. The tournament, taking place at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Complex, will spot the Green Wave face a challenging field as they continue their 2026 campaign with a current record of 5-4.
The Chanticleer Challenge promises a competitive weekend, featuring a lineup where two teams are nationally ranked and two others are receiving votes in the latest polls. Cal Poly currently holds the No. 4 ranking in the nation, while Florida Atlantic checks in at No. 15, according to the most recent rankings. Tulane and Georgia State are both receiving votes, demonstrating the rising competitiveness of both programs.
The Green Wave will kick off the tournament tomorrow morning against No. 15 Florida Atlantic at 7:00 a.m. CT. Later that day, they’ll face Georgia State at 1:00 p.m. CT. Saturday’s schedule presents a significant test, as Tulane will take on No. 4 Cal Poly at 7:00 a.m. CT, marking their first match against a top-five opponent this season. They will immediately follow that contest with a match against the host Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at 11:00 a.m. CT.
Leading the way for Tulane this season has been the second flight pairing of Molly Trodd and Skylar Ensign, boasting a 7-2 record. The duo is currently riding a five-match winning streak, providing a consistent spark for the Green Wave. Avery Burks and Gigi Gallegos are also performing strongly, having won their last four matches, including an undefeated run at last week’s Tiger Beach Challenge.

Facing ranked opponents like Cal Poly and Florida Atlantic will provide valuable experience and an opportunity to gauge their progress against the nation’s best.
