Tunisair: Revenue up 29% at the end of March 2023

“The airline Tunisair recorded an improvement in its transport revenues, by 29%, to reach nearly 292 million dinars (MD), during the first quarter of 2023”, according to activity indicators published on Friday. , on the website of the Tunis Stock Exchange.

This increase was favored by the increase in the number of passengers transported by 24%, from 412,000 at the end of March 2022 to 509,000 passengers at the end of March 2023.

At the same time, the average revenue per passenger (scheduled flights) and per flight hour (charters) increased by 5.3% and 5% respectively, during the first three months of the current year.

However, the national carrier’s market share has declined from 33.1% to 28.8% currently. Similarly, fleet punctuality fell from 42% to 37%.

In terms of expenses, the improvement in activity was accompanied by a significant increase in fuel expenses by 85% to 109.1 MD, and airport charges by 42% to 49.2 MD.

Airplane rental charges increased, in turn, by nearly 10 MD due to the entry into service of new aircraft acquired on lease by Tunisair.

As for indebtedness, it fell by 16%, to 766.5 million dinars, following the resumption of the repayment of maturities of restructured local loans during the Covid 19 period.
