The photos and videos on social media are brutal. Dogs have been beaten to death, their carcasses thrown into ditches, and severely injured dogs still struggling to be saved by desperate animal rights activists. Two weeks after Turkey passed a new law allowing for the mass culling of sick or aggressive dogs, the results of the controversial law can now be dismissed if stray dogs in communities are said to threaten general security.
