The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday that it welcomes the decision of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to extend the term of its Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, for another year, for the fourth time, until October 1, 2024.

She added, “We congratulate NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, who has shown close cooperation and solidarity with our country during his term of office.”

The ministry noted that Stoltenberg had made efforts since taking office in 2014 to maintain Alliance unity and solidarity in the face of growing threats and challenges, including terrorism, and expressed confidence that he would continue to show the required leadership.

Yesterday, Tuesday, NATO announced in a statement that its member states had agreed to extend the term of Stoltenberg, which ends on September 30, for another year, for the fourth time.
