Metjendorf, Germany – TV Metjendorf is celebrating a remarkably successful badminton season, marked by multiple runner-up finishes in league play and national championship victories across various age groups. The club’s strong performance highlights its growing presence in the Lower Saxony badminton scene and its commitment to developing talent at all levels.

The TV Metjendorf second team concluded the Lower Saxony League season as runners-up, securing two 5-3 victories against MTV Nienburg and SV Harkenbleck II in their final matches. Finishing with 23 points, they trailed only SG VfB/SC Peine II, who topped the league with 30 points, according to NWZonline. The club’s third team likewise achieved success, earning a second-place finish in the association class during their inaugural season.

Second Team Secures Runner-Up Spot in Lower Saxony League

The TV Metjendorf second team’s success was built on the strong play of Niklas Jäde, Alexander Harms, Matthias Tschöpe, Leon Kneip, Jule Schalt, Chantal Stobbe, and Kyra Abeln. Their consistent performance throughout the season culminated in the decisive victories against MTV Nienburg and SV Harkenbleck II, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the league.

Third Team Crowned Association Class Runners-Up

The TV Metjendorf III team, comprised of Tim Puls, Thorsten Beyer, Johann Barth, Meike Mählhop, Frank Peter, Lena Wullenkord, Jule Schalt, Clemens Franzmann, Dominik Helms, and Diajeng Atmojo, demonstrated impressive form in their first season in the association class. They secured a 6-2 win against Oldenburger TB and a dominant 8-0 victory against Delmenhorster FC, ultimately finishing as runners-up.

National Championship Successes for TV Metjendorf Players

Beyond league play, TV Metjendorf athletes also excelled at the national championships for the U22 and O35 to O75 age groups, which the club hosted. According to Hans Georg Schimschal of TVM, the event, which featured 195 players competing in 62 competitions, ran smoothly and received positive feedback, with many participants expressing interest in the club hosting future tournaments. Vin Assmus and Mattea Schinzel (BV Gifhorn) secured the U22 doubles title, defeating teammates Niklas Jäde and Jakob Puckhaber (TSV Wallenhöfen) in the final. Jannik Widenbek (TVM) and Giovanni Schulte (FC Schüttorf 09) finished third in the U22 competition. Assmus also claimed the national championship in mixed doubles with Luna Marquart (SV Harkenbleck), while Jäde was runner-up in the individual event.

In the O35 class, Frank Juchim won the title with a victory over Benjamin Sprick from Hannover 96. He then teamed up with Tim Stuckenschneider to win the doubles title. Andreas Karnbach and Tim Puls from Metjendorf placed third in the O35 doubles, and Karnbach also secured third place in the mixed doubles with Melanie Cronenberg (MTV Vechelde). The O50 doubles team of Frank Peter and Lars Schönefeldt surprised competitors with a second-place finish, and Hermann Mende from TSG Westerstede took second in the individual O75 class.

TV Metjendorf’s recent successes demonstrate the club’s dedication to badminton at all levels. The club is preparing for its annual general assembly on March 19, 2026, as reported on the TV Metjendorf website, and will also be offering Sling Training starting April 14th.
