The CCTV images show one of the cars going straight, at high speed, around a bend, flying down a small embankment and hitting the fence surrounding the house. The second Ferrari follows closely and ends its race just next door.
The car driven by the Belgians caught fire following the accident, but the occupants – in their fifties, according to the Italian media – managed to extricate themselves from the cabin, just like the Dutchman driving the second vehicle. They suffered only minor injuries from the impact. The firefighters and rescuers went to the scene, and the helicopter from the regional hospital headed for the scene of the accident before turning back, the injured not requiring urgent treatment. The two Belgians were still taken to hospital by ambulance.
The circumstances of the accident remain unclear. In view of the images and the condition of the cars following the fact, the consequences might have been dramatic.
