New Delhi: India’s two-time Commonwealth Games champion Sanjita Chanu has been banned for four years. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) announced a ban once morest the actor following he failed the doping test. NADA’s action came following the player was found to have used banned steroids during a test conducted last year.

Sanjita Chanu won gold in weightlifting at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2014, the actor competed in the 48 kg category and in 2018 in the 53 kg category.

Tests conducted during last year’s National Games revealed that the athlete had used a banned anabolic steroid called Drostanolone Metabolite. With this, Sanjitha may lose the silver medal in the National Games.

The actor has an opportunity to appeal the decision. But Sanjita has not responded regarding this yet. Sanjitha, a native of Manipur, entered the competition in 2006.
