ABU DHABI: Banks in the UAE have announced support of one lakh crore dirhams for climate change activities. According to bank officials, the money will be given to sectors like renewable energy and improving the quality of agricultural land. The main discussion on the fifth day of the UN Climate Summit was in the economic sector.

Fed Chairman Abdul Aziz Al Gurair announced that banks in the UAE will provide one trillion dirhams in aid. Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley said that this is the first summit where climate and health have been discussed together.

World Bank chief also participated in the summit. The UAE Bank Federation has announced financial assistance by taking the view that financial institutions should contribute better in the field of renewable energy.
