UAE Chess Player Wins Silver Medal at Arab Sports Games: Ambitions for International Tournaments

ABU DHABI, 15th July, 2020 (WAM) — Rawda Al Serkal, the UAE chess player, confirmed that winning the silver medal in the women’s singles competition at the Arab Sports Games in Algeria enhances her ambitions to compete for the best results in international tournaments.
She said that the historical results of the chess team, by winning 5 colored medals (4 gold and one silver), reflect the development of the game and the presence of good elements in the team’s ranks, despite the strong competition from other teams in the tournament.
Al-Serkal referred to the great efforts of the technical and administrative staff in the national team, to develop the technical level of male and female players, and the important role of clubs with the Football Association in providing qualified technical cadres, organizing tournaments and camps, and external participations, which had a great impact on reaching this distinguished level.
