Kassanda, Uganda – Residents of Myanzi are cautiously optimistic following assurances from newly elected Member of Parliament Hajj Abdul Bisaso that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has prioritized funding for the long-delayed Myanzi-Kassanda-Bukuya-Kiboga road. The pledge, reiterated by MP Bisaso during a recent address to supporters, aims to address years of frustration over the deteriorating 60-kilometer stretch connecting the Mubende-Kasese highway to the Hoima Road.
The road’s poor condition has long been a significant impediment to trade and economic development in Kassanda District, hindering the transportation of agricultural goods and limiting access to essential services. MP Bisaso, elected under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) banner, emphasized President Museveni’s commitments made during campaign rallies in Bukuya, where the President reportedly stated that electing NRM candidates would unlock critical infrastructure projects.
“I promise you, people of Kassanda, that the President has committed himself to the construction of this road,” Bisaso declared, referencing a local idiom to underscore the President’s dedication. He added that he has already followed up with President Museveni and received a “positive” response, anticipating operate to initiate before the complete of 2026.
The commitment comes after President Museveni, during a campaign rally in Kassanda District in the lead-up to the recent elections, acknowledged delays in infrastructure projects and attributed them to past leadership choices. He urged residents to support NRM candidates to ensure faster development, according to reports from Chimpreports. Museveni also highlighted existing road projects in the region, including Myanzi–Kiboga–Mubende and Busunju–Kiboga–Lwamata, while emphasizing the need for improved water access and electricity coverage in Kassanda.
MP Bisaso also acknowledged the advocacy efforts of Hajjat Amina Mukalazi, recognizing her as a key voice in championing development initiatives within Kassanda, including the road project.
The renewed focus on the Myanzi-Kassanda-Bukuya-Kiboga road aligns with broader NRM efforts to deliver on infrastructure promises following strong electoral gains in Kassanda District. Leaders within the NRM have called for unity and support for President Museveni and party flag bearers to attract further government investment, as reported by Daily Express and The Public Lens. The NRM’s emphasis on sustained development and improved service delivery is predicated on electing leaders who can effectively collaborate with government programs, according to a statement from President Museveni reported by Kampala Post.
Residents in Myanzi expressed hope that the commitment will translate into tangible improvements. The tarmacking of the road, if realized, is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and stimulate economic activity in the region.
