Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, it was up 0.76%.
The best performers of the session were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:), which rose 7.98% or 176.00 points to trade at 2,382.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Persimmon PLC (LON:) added 3.09% (LON:) to end at 1,403.50; Frasers Group PLC (LON:) rose 2.85% (LON:) to end at 829.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Entain PLC (LON:), which fell 4.15% or 40.40 points to trade at 933.40 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:) declined 1.12% or 5.30 points to end at 466.50. Endeavor Mining PLC (LON:) was down 1.01% or 13.00 points to 1,269.00.
954 stocks rose on the London Stock Exchange, which outnumbered the number of stocks closing down – 800. At the same time, 697 stocks did not rise or fall, which was basically the same.
Fresnillo PLC (LON:) shares fell to lows, losing 1.12% or 5.30 points to 466.50. Endeavor Mining PLC (LON:) shares fell to all time lows, losing 1.01% or 13.00 points to 1,269.00.
Gold futures April options contract price fell 0.13% (2.60 points) to $2,004.60. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for March delivery fell by 0.90% (0.70 points), quoted at US$77.17, while the April London Brent crude oil futures contract fell by 0.91% (0.75), trading at US$82.02.
GBP/USD did not rise or fall by 0.27%, with an exchange rate of 1.26; at the same time, EUR/GBP was basically unchanged at 0.49%, with a quote of 0.85.
U.S. dollar index futures fell 0.22% to 104.62.
