Ukraine announced the resumption of electricity exports to the EU | Ukraine Electricity Export | AFN | Belarusian news | Republic of Belarus

Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko signed an executive document allowing to begin the process of restoring electricity exports in the face of a surplus of generating capacity.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy on Friday.

As the head of the Ministry of Energy explained, the Ukrainian energy system has been operating with a reserve of capacity for almost two months, which allows opening the export of electricity to attract additional financial resources.

The authorized capacity for export by the European network of transmission system operators ENTSO-E is 400 MW. However, actual export volumes may fluctuate depending on the time of day and market conditions, the agency clarifies.

Recall that in March 2022 Ukraine applied for joining the European energy system ENTSO-E and in early June received the right to export its energy to Europe.

The first commercial cross-border electricity exchange began at the end of June with Romania and Slovakia in July.

But on October 10, due to Russian rocket attacks on energy facilities, Ukraine announced that it was halting electricity exports to Europe.
