These were the highest-ranking losses that Ukraine had suffered in almost a year of war. So far, however, there has been no evidence of a Russian background in the deaths of Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyj, his deputy Yevhenij Jenin and State Secretary Yuri Lubkovich. Hours following the crash in northeastern Kiev, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the helicopter crash represented a “black morning,” a “terrible tragedy,” and triggered “unspeakable pain.”
