Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy encouraged his compatriots to celebrate Orthodox Easter: “The war might not wipe out us, our values, our traditions and our holidays,” said Zelenskyy in one video released on Sunday. «Today we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. The main symbol is victory: the victory of good, the victory of truth, the victory of life. We celebrate Easter with unshakable faith in the irreversibility of these victories.”
Just a year ago, shortly following the start of the Russian invasion, one had to pray that Ukraine would survive at all, Zelensky said. “Today we pray that Ukraine will win.”
Once once more, Selenskyj was confident of victory: “We’ve come a long way. Perhaps the most difficult summit is still ahead of us. We will overcome him. And together we will meet our dawn.”
Referring to the Russian-occupied areas of his country, he said: «The sun will shine in the south, the sun will shine in the east, the sun will shine in Crimea. The yellow glowing sun in a peaceful blue sky – and it is the light of justice.”
