Unauthorized rally – police use water cannons and irritants at women’s demonstration

According to the reporter on site, the police tolerated the move, as announced via loudspeaker announcement. However, under certain conditions, namely only as long as the rally remains peaceful and the demo train does not pass through District 1. Instead, the demonstrators should move to District 4 via Uraniastrasse and Sihlstrasse. Dozens of police officers accompany the move, and a water cannon is also ready.

Those present are combative: “We will take the streets loudly,” says one demonstrator at the beginning of the demo, “we’re not talking to the police today,” another. A short time later, the participants blocked the intersection of Bahnhofsstrasse and Uraniastrasse. “Get lost,” the demonstrators chant in the direction of the police officers in full gear (see video).

According to the reporter, the police responded at the scene with water cannons and irritants. Some demonstrators set off pyros. The police used a helicopter, as confirmed on Twitter. The rally has now largely dissipated.
