A very unusual scene occurred in the match between the Laval Rocket and the Rochester Americans on Wednesday.

Montreal Canadiens farm club goalie Strauss Mann scored an empty-net goal in the first period… and shorthanded too! See this feat in the video above.

While the opposing goalie returned to the bench thanks to a sixth skater following a penalty called once morest the Rocket, forward Filip Cederqvist tried to give the puck to a teammate in the slot. The precious object, however, deflected towards Mann and then ended up in the visitors’ net.

As the goalie was the last Rocket player to touch the puck, he was credited with the goal. He is the 21st goalie in American League history to hit the target.

The 25-year-old American is playing his third match in front of the Rocket cage in 2023-2024. Last year, he wore the colors of the San Jose Barracuda.
