Speaking to the American channel “NBC”, Emma Heming described how her husband’s illness affected their family life, and said:
What I’m learning is that dementia is hard. It’s hard on the person suffering from it, and it’s hard on their family. This is no different for Bruce or for me or our two daughters. When they say it’s a family disease, it really is. It’s hard to know if my husband actually realizes he has dementia. I think his diagnosis was a blessing and a curse, just knowing what’s happening to Bruce makes it a little easier.. It’s good to finally understand what he’s going through, even though it’s still painful. When you know what a disease is from a medical point of view, it kind of makes sense.
