The main factors behind the widespread flooding in Russia were soil freezing, heavy snowfall, a sharp increase in temperature and rain. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, spoke regarding this.

“One of the main reasons for the large-scale flood in the Russian Federation was soil freezing,” TASS reports Kurenkov’s words. He added that other factors for the occurrence of the flood were heavy accumulation of snow, a sharp increase in temperature and large amounts of precipitation.

A regional emergency situation (ES) regime has been introduced in the Kurgan and Tyumen regions. In the Trans-Ural region, water began to rise in the Tobol River in the Zverinogolovsky district. The level can reach 11 meters. Introduction of a state of emergency federal scaleaccording to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, can be considered on behalf of the head of state.
