Union chairman on teacher shortage: Working environment must become more attractive – education

2023-09-15 20:51:56

The new chairman of the public service union, Eckehard Quin, demanded in the “ZiB 2” on Friday that working conditions in the teaching profession should be made more attractive. On the one hand, this includes salaries, relief from administrative tasks, part-time opportunities and a culture of appreciation. “Money isn’t everything,” Quin stated in an interview with “ZiB 2” presenter Margit Laufer. According to Quin, employing career changers as educators is a “piece of the mosaic” to address the teacher shortage, but this measure will only partially solve the problem.
