United Bank for Africa partners with Cellulant to expand reach in 19 markets across Africa

United Bank for Africa (UBA) and pan-African payments company Cellulant have announced a partnership that will expand payment services for merchants and consumers in 19 key African countries in which UBA operates. These countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Liberia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone.

In French-speaking Africa, these are Côte d’Ivoire, Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea and Senegal. This network represents one of the primary tools for bringing together Africa’s fragmented payment ecosystem, ensuring that Cellulant’s payment gateway, Tingg, is available to a large number of merchants and consumers in each of these markets.

Already more than $15 billion in gross value payments are processed by Cellulant across shared marketplaces – and this partnership has the potential to dramatically increase the numbers. “Partnering with UBA extends our unrivaled reach across the continent and gives merchants and consumers on our shared network the ability to enjoy streamlined digital payment services directly through their bank”shared Akshay Grover, CEO of Cellulant.
