United Kingdom: The Body Shop cuts 270 jobs and closes almost half of its stores

The Body Shop to close almost half of its 198 UK stores following its placed under curatorship last week. The brand will also restructure and eliminate 270 administrative jobs.

Founded in 1976 in Brighton, in the south of the United Kingdom, and now present in 89 markets worldwide, The Body Shop sells bath and body products based on natural ingredients, skin care and hair, perfumes and makeup. Its headquarters are in London and the company employs around 7,000 people.

According to the specialized French magazine LSAfour European subsidiaries of the company (Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Austria) would have been bought by the “family office Alma24” and should be placed in receivership.
