United Russia Party Congress: Supporting Putin’s 2024 Presidential Candidacy and General Council Rotation

Moscow. December 17. INTERFAX.RU – On Sunday there will be a congress of the United Russia party, which will consider the issue of supporting the nomination of Vladimir Putin as a candidate in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, United Russia General Council Secretary Andrei Turchak said that the congress would unanimously support Putin’s nomination as a candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation in the 2024 elections.

In addition, at the congress, according to the party charter, there will be a planned rotation of 20% of the General Council.

The congress will take place at the exhibition-forum “Russia” at VDNKh.

On December 16, an initiative group of voters supported Putin’s candidacy as a self-nominated candidate in the upcoming Russian presidential elections in March 2024.

The head of state will participate in the presidential elections as a self-nominated candidate. To register, he needs to collect 300 thousand voter signatures.

On December 8, at a meeting with Heroes of Russia in the Kremlin, Putin announced that he would run for the post of head of state in 2024.

In March next year, Putin will take part in the presidential elections for the fifth time.
