The Trojans appeared to be in control for much of the match, but a furious late rally by Del Mar nearly forced the game into overtime.
University jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first half. Cole Barkett opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a header off a corner kick. Jake Rabold extended the advantage before halftime, capitalizing on a rebound to create it 2-0. The Trojans continued their offensive pressure into the second half, adding what seemed like a decisive insurance goal in the 73rd minute when Brendan Leung slotted home a loose ball, increasing their lead to 3-0.
