The scene was filmed on January 7 by CCTV in Hobbs, New Mexico (United States).
A motorist stopped her car in front of a trash can, grabbed a black bag with her baby in it, and threw it in the dumpster.
She then left behind the wheel of her vehicle, as if nothing had happened.
These are three passers-by who, a few hours later, alerted by the screams, opened the trash can and saved the baby.
The very weak child was wrapped in a damp, blood-stained blanket inside a garbage bag that contained other garbage. He still had his umbilical cord.
The infant was transported to hospital where he is in stable condition.
The 18-year-old mother was arrested the next day. She confessed to throwing her baby away. She explained that she panicked just following giving birth alone in the bathroom at her parents’ home.
The young woman has been charged with attempted murder. She faces up to fifteen years in prison.
