Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has shared worrisome thoughts regarding the SF23 car – he believes there is a fundamental problem with racing pace in its design.
At a press conference ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, the Spaniard admitted: “We keep talking a lot regarding tire handling and tire wear, but I think our car has a more fundamental problem with racing pace than just rubber degradation.
Our conclusion with the team is that we lack racing pace. We need to make a car that is not only more tire-friendly, but also aerodynamic and allows drivers to stay at the top of their game throughout the race.
At the moment it seems that we have taken a step back. But we try our best. Every weekend we try different things with the setup and tires, bring in new parts and I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of it.”
