Upcoming Rent Increase in Switzerland: Prepare for Inflationary Pressures in October

2023-10-03 08:10:30

The increase in rents has not yet taken place, but it should take place in October. This increase might mean a return to inflation above 2%, warned the SNB. “Half of rents will increase by 3% to 8% from October, which will accentuate inflationary pressures,” underlines Arthur Jurus, investment director at the private bank Oddo BHF Switzerland in a note. Over one year, the increase in rental prices is 3.2%.

The increase over one year is in line with the forecasts of economists surveyed by the AWP agency, who expected an acceleration of between 1.7% and 1.9%. The monthly variation was, however, expected between 0% and +0.2%.
