Baku: 25 people were killed in a military attack in Azerbaijan Karabakh, an Armenian human rights official said. 25 people were killed on Tuesday. Two of the dead are civilians. 138 people including 29 civilians were injured. An officer named Gegham Stepanyan announced this on Twitter. The casualties followed Azerbaijan’s move to send troops backed by artillery into Armenian-controlled Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan’s move has threatened war with neighboring Armenia. Karabakh is considered internationally as a province of Azerbaijan. But part of it is controlled by separatist ethnic Armenians. Since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Azerbaijani army has so far captured more than 60 military posts and destroyed 20 military vehicles, the Baku Defense Ministry said in a statement.
