New Delhi ∙ The unemployment rate in urban areas of Kerala has come down to 8.9 percent. This is the figure for October-December period. In the previous two quarters, the rate was 12.5 percent.
In these places, male unemployment is 7.1% and female unemployment is 12.8%. It was 10.2% and 17.4% respectively during July-September period.
The unemployment rate in urban areas of the country is 7.2 percent. It was also 7.2 percent in July-September period. It was 7.6 percent in April-June period and 8.2 percent before that.
The figure is from the Central Statistical Ministry. Unemployment is highest in Rajasthan (13.7%) followed by Jammu and Kashmir (13.5%). The lowest is in Gujarat (3.2%).
