US Army Awards Anduril $20B AI Battlefield Tech Contract | Lattice System

The U.S. Army has awarded Anduril Industries, based in Costa Mesa, California, a firm-fixed-price contract valued at up to $20 billion over a 10-year period to deliver a unified set of commercial technology capabilities supporting the Army’s evolving operational and business needs, according to a Pentagon contract announcement on March 13, 2026.

The contract is intended to consolidate current and future commercial solutions into a mission-ready ecosystem built around Anduril’s proprietary, open-architecture, AI-enabled Lattice platform. The effort will integrate software, hardware systems, data capabilities, computing infrastructure, and technical support services designed to enhance operational awareness, system interoperability, and decision support across Army missions.

At the center of the effort is Lattice, the software platform that powers Anduril’s software-defined systems and integrates a wide range of capabilities into a unified operational environment. The platform is designed to connect sensors, autonomous systems, and decision tools while also integrating third-party and government-owned technologies, enabling the creation of an extensible network of sensors and operational effectors.

Through this contract vehicle, the Army will be able to issue orders deploying elements of the Lattice ecosystem and supporting infrastructure as mission requirements evolve. The architecture is intended to enable scalable deployment of artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and data processing capabilities across a range of operational environments.

Unlike traditional defense contractors, Anduril has built its model around rapid technology development and vertically integrated product delivery. The company designs, builds, and deploys many of its systems end-to-end, investing in internal research and development and delivering finished capabilities that can be rapidly fielded.

Anduril was previously selected by the Army for the Integrated Battle Command System Maneuver (IBCS-M) program in November 2025, demonstrating the Army’s increasing confidence in the company’s technological approach. The $20 billion contract award is seen by some analysts as a positive indicator for other companies in the AI-driven defense sector, including Palantir Technologies.

The Army has not yet specified which elements of the Lattice ecosystem will be deployed first, or the timeline for initial operational deployments. As of March 15, 2026, the Army has not responded to requests for further comment on the contract’s specific implementation plans.
