US Personnel Command “Awareness of North Korea’s ballistic missile launch… Korea-Japan Defense Commitment Firm”

The US Indo-Pacific Command condemned North Korea’s ballistic missile launch and reaffirmed its defense commitments to South Korea and Japan.

In a statement on the 19th, the Indo-Pacific Command said, “We are aware of North Korea’s launch of additional ballistic missiles and are in close consultation with our allies and partners.”

[인도태평양사령부 성명] “We are aware of the DPRK’s additional ballistic missile launches, and we are consulting closely with our allies and partners. While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel or territory, or to our allies, the missile launches highlight the destabilizing impact of the DPRK’s unlawful WMD and ballistic missile programs. The U.S. commitments to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remain ironclad.”

“While we assessed that this did not pose an immediate threat to individuals, territories or allies of the United States, the missile launch highlights the instability caused by North Korea’s illicit weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and ballistic missile programs,” he said.

“The US defense commitments to South Korea and Japan remain ironclad,” he said.

Earlier, on the 20th, two days following the ‘Hwasong-15’ intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was fired, North Korea continued its provocation by firing another super-large multiple rocket launcher into the East Sea.
