WASHINGTON – The United States recognized opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia as the winner of Venezuela’s disputed presidential election and stepped up pressure on President Nicolas Maduro. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said: “Given the overwhelming evidence, it is clear to the United States and especially to the people of Venezuela that Edmundo González Urrutia won the election in Venezuela’s July 28 presidential election.
