Washington – Ana Montes (65), who was imprisoned in the US for spying for Cuba, has been released from prison. Released following 20 years. Ana Montes, a US citizen, was recruited by Cuba for espionage in the 1980s.
She was an analyst at the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) from 1985–2001. He was promoted to senior analyst on the Cuba issue. The FBI and DIA began investigating Montes in 2000. On September 21, 2001, Montes was arrested in Washington. He was accused of leaking the country’s defense information to Cuba.
He was sentenced to 25 years in 2002. The verdict said that following being released from prison, he should continue under surveillance for another five years. According to reports, they have not been able to find the complete information regarding what information they leaked to Cuba.
