US Soldiers Killed in Iran War: Kuwait Drone Attack – March 2026

by Omar El Sayed - World Editor

The Pentagon on Wednesday identified two additional U.S. Service members killed in the escalating conflict with Iran, bringing the total number of American deaths to six. The latest casualties stem from a drone attack on Sunday at a U.S. Military facility in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait.

Major Jeffrey O’Brien, 45, of Iowa, was confirmed as one of the soldiers killed in the attack, according to a Pentagon statement. The Pentagon likewise announced the “believed death” of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California, noting that positive identification is pending confirmation by the medical examiner.

These deaths follow the earlier confirmation of four U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed in the same drone strike. NPR reported that the Pentagon has now identified all six U.S. Soldiers who died in the Kuwait attack. The Hill reported earlier this week that the Pentagon had identified a fifth service member killed in the Kuwait drone attack.

CBS News reported that the Pentagon has released the names of the U.S. Service members killed in the Iran war, though the conflict has not been formally designated as a “war” by the U.S. Government. The BBC reported on the Pentagon’s identification of the six U.S. Soldiers killed in the Iran conflict.

The New York Post reported that the two remaining soldiers killed in the Iranian drone attack in Kuwait had been identified by the Pentagon. The circumstances surrounding the drone attack and the ongoing response from U.S. Forces remain largely undisclosed by the Pentagon.
