US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Washington has the tools to hold human rights accountable

“We have a range of tools that allow us to hold accountable anyone in any country in the world who is involved in the suppression of what would otherwise be considered a universal human right,” Price said, commenting on the possibility of imposing sanctions once morest those involved in the controversial law on “foreign agents” in Georgia.

He added that the United States would closely monitor the situation in Georgia, which they are “very concerned regarding”, and urge Tbilisi to guarantee the right to peaceful protests.

“We very much hope that the Georgian government will listen to the Georgian people, who are now making their position clear. And we are now seeing some of these voices being silenced by tear gas, efforts to suppress those who are trying to exercise their right to freedom of peaceful assembly,” he commented.
