WINONA, Minn. – The UW-Oshkosh women’s gymnastics team etched its name in the record books, securing its sixth straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship on March 7 at Winona State University’s McCown Gymnasium. The Titans’ performance wasn’t just a victory; it was a historic one, shattering Division III scoring records and solidifying their position as a dominant force in collegiate gymnastics. This win also qualifies UW-Oshkosh for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championship, scheduled for March 20 at SUNY Cortland.
UW-Oshkosh achieved a remarkable score of 195.175, marking the first time any Division III school has surpassed the 195-point threshold in a single meet. This surpasses the Titans’ previous program record of 194.975, set during the 2024 NCGA Championship. The team’s exceptional performance extended beyond the overall score, with new event records established on both vault and balance beam, demonstrating a comprehensive display of skill and precision.
The Titans’ success was built on a foundation of individual brilliance and team synergy. Senior Reanna McGibboney was named the WIAC Gymnast of the Year, a testament to her consistent excellence throughout the season. McGibboney secured the vault title with a score of 9.85 and also tied for second place on the floor exercise, adding to her impressive resume. She joins an exclusive group of Oshkosh gymnasts to receive the honor, following Delaney Cienkus (2025) and Emily Buffington (2022).
Freshman Ome Ellis made an immediate impact, resetting the individual balance beam record with a stunning score of 9.925, surpassing Tiffany Barden’s longstanding program record of 9.9 set in 1998. Ellis’s performance highlights the rising talent within the Titans’ program. Freshman Sam Dorrity also earned all-conference honors on the balance beam, showcasing the depth of the team’s capabilities.
UW-Oshkosh’s record-breaking performance included a vault score of 48.775, exceeding the previous record of 48.5. On balance beam, the Titans achieved a score of 49.125, surpassing the prior mark of 48.85. They also posted strong scores on floor exercise (48.775) and uneven bars (48.5). All-WIAC designations were also awarded to freshman Kris Phillips, senior Amaya McConkay, and junior Kasha Muraski on vault.
Senior Lydia Hayden also contributed significantly, finishing in the top three in two events. She tied for first place on the uneven bars with UW-Whitewater’s Elaine Copeland, both scoring 9.8, and secured third place on the balance beam. McConkay and sophomore Averie Evans also received all-conference honors on the uneven bars. Junior Jay Ratkowski led the Titans on the floor exercise, earning a score of 9.8 and securing the top spot in the conference.
The UW-Oshkosh gymnastics team’s journey doesn’t complete with the WIAC Championship. They now set their sights on the NCGA Championship at SUNY Cortland on March 20, where they will compete for their sixth overall NCGA title and fourth in the last five years. The championship is slated to begin at noon central time.
As the Titans prepare for the national stage, their recent achievements serve as a powerful testament to their dedication, skill, and unwavering pursuit of excellence. The team’s ability to consistently break records and overcome challenges positions them as strong contenders for the NCGA title.
