Vienna – Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen pardoned a total of 40 people in 2022. Five of them were released early from prison as part of this year’s Christmas campaign. Together with the Ministry of Justice, the President grants pardons throughout the year, in the majority of cases it is a matter of pardons restricting information from criminal records so that those pardoned can show impeccable credentials for their job search.
